ABOUT

Salut!

I'm Patricia and this is where I write about my embarrassing cultural mishaps, finding my way around a French beauty counter, and day-to-day life as a Madame.

_______________________________________________________________________

It all started during my 3rd year of university. I was studying abroad in France at the time and fell in love with a tall, dark, mysterious (couldn't understand what he was saying half the time) Frenchman* who barely spoke English. It was love at first sight and a great motivation to learn French quickly.

The next year I went back home state-side to finish up my bachelor's degree. But I didn't even stick around for my graduation ceremony. As soon as the tests were finished and my grades were in, I hopped on a plane back to France to marry Laurent. Best decision I've ever made.

I'm a make up junkie, an avid reader, always on the hunt for the best skin creams, and a lover of all chocolate patisseries.

Blogging has been a wonderful outlet for me as I've gone through the ups and downs of trying to figure out where I fit in on this side of the ocean. I've met such wonderful people and hope to continue to do so.

*I occasionally refer to him as Monsieur Right on the blog.
Don’t worry. I am fully aware that this falls under the category of corny, obnoxious nicknames. I’m just kind of a corny person.

Don't worry though. I didn't marry him just for his looks. Though I strongly considered it when we first started dating. I remember thinking, "Well, crap. I kinda hope this is the one. Otherwise every guy after this will be totally less hot. Looks-wise it can only go down from here."

Now you know I'm a woman who clearly had her priorities in order at 19. ;)

  11. Alright, we have the same minors. And while you are living in France, I am an expat living in Spain! Although the whole "fall in love with a Spaniard" thing hasn't quite happened yet, SO cool that it did for you though. I am a little envious, because I am SO not ready to leave Spain! Can't wait to follow your blog- especially since you are a fellow scarf lover like myself. :)

  14. Can I have your life? Finding a "monsiguer right" was on my list of goals while studying abroad in Paris last spring (which I completely agree is wet and cold 9 times out of 10). So while I'm back in American dutifully finishing up my degree, I will live vicariously through you :) Oh, and i LOVE your e.e. cummings rules of punctuation and capitalization comment. If I wasn't a communications and journalism major and didn't have AP Style drilled into my brain, I would be right there with you and artistic capitalization.

  15. I'm glad I just found you. As a French teacher, I have an obsession with French and France, but living there is something I have never wanted to do. I love reading about Americans who have married and moved to France. I find it fascinating that you could get carried away and move to France!

  23. I laughed out loud at the part where you said your husband was hot and your first thought was that you hoped he was the one cause no guy would ever be that hot. I feel the same way about my current boyfriend. I've read your about me like 5 times but I just like making sure I know things about you when I tell my friends about your blog. Haha.

  28. I am so happy I found your blog. I repeat: sooo happy. I worked in "not Paris" (specifically, in Beausoleil, near Monaco) as an au pair. I'm stateside on a new adventure now, but my husband and I are both wanderlust-types who can't wait to get out the door again. Until then, totally living vicariously.

    à bientôt!

  30. So, I know I've stumbled across your blog a few times, but this is my first time really exploring it and hopping around to different posts, and here on your About page, when you said your husband was good-looking, obviously I was interested in the picture ;) and I was startled to notice how much he resembles my own husband! It's not really that startling, but they both have the darker tans, similar eyebrow shapes, style their hair the same way, might not be completely clean-shaven in pictures. My husband is short though...and he tends to try to look goofy in pictures, not serious. :P
So that's all, I was intrigued that you found a guy from France who looked rather similar to my Mexican husband! haha!

  34. Hello

I’m also looking for the ways on how to promote my website. I have tried AdSense and Facebok Ads, however it is getting very expensive. Was thinking about starting using analytics. Do you recommend it?
Can you recommend something what works best for you?

Would appreciate, if you can have a quick look at my website and give me an advice what I should improve: The Fasaadi
(Recently I have added a new page about FutureNet and the way how users can make money on this social networking portal.)

Hope to hear from you soon.
